Wie ben ik Marijke

Who am I?

My name is Marijke Clabbers-Beldman. I have been working as a physiotherapist since 2007. In 2015 I joined the Physiotherapy Elisabeth Wolffstraat partnership in Amsterdam. Here I work with pleasure and in good contact with general practitioners in the area.

Over the years I have worked in various health centers and private practices. In order to develop a broader view on physiotherapy, I also worked abroad; an innovative practice in Switzerland and a few months in a Nepali child rehabilitation center. I have helped, among other things, to more protocollate the department of physiotherapy. Both were very interesting and educational experiences never to be forgotten.

My craving for knowledge and depth remained. In 2014, I completed the master's degree in Sociology for Metropolitan Issues & Policy at the Erasmus University. I find fascinating human behavior, both in larger forms, to which sociology researches, and on an individual level, such as in physiotherapy.
Gradually I became more and more interested in treating psychosomatic complaints. My interest in physiotherapy lies in the underlying story of a person's physical problem, in life events that happen to us all. Sometimes we can develop physical pain complaints or become cramped in our movements. It is a challenge for me to help people with these types of recovery processes. I have also developed further in the treatment of pregnancy related complaints.

I have followed various trainings including Breath & Relaxation therapy according to Dixhoorn, Mindful Zwanger (PregnantFit ©), Basic Body Awareness Therapy, focusing method Gendlin, interventions from NLP (PsychFysio) and dry needling.
The way in which I experience and practice my profession is based on a foundation of physiotherapy, sociology and life experiences. It gives me satisfaction to help someone to come back into balance and to see life move easier.

I am also based on my expertise as a physiotherapist, part of the content team of zwangerenportaal.nl. For this online environment I write articles related to pregnancy and relaxation, mindfulness and responsible exercise during pregnancy.
